After the success of the Yaz flagship restaurant in downtown Stuttgart, the brand was set to expand into shopping malls – more compact, faster, optimized for food court operations. Two locations were developed: one in the newly opened Gerber in Stuttgart, one in the Marstall Center in Ludwigsburg.
The design language follows that of the flagship restaurant: the oriental pattern on the counter front, the characteristic woven pendant lights, dark materials with warm light. At the Gerber, a few standing spots were added directly at the counter. Despite the compact format, a clear identity comes through – instantly recognizable as Yaz.
Malls have their own rules. At the Marschall Center, this meant strict requirements from the mall operator regarding materials, construction heights, and exterior appearance. The task was to develop a design that worked within these constraints while still looking like Yaz. The counter with its backlit pattern was the strongest tool.
Rikiki was responsible for concept and design, as well as quality control of the visible works. Construction management was handled by the client.
